Redundancy

12 October 06.

This is Design.

I know a lot of you designery gits read this site, so I though it only fair to let you know that you are no longer necessary in the real world. Computers have made your skill-set irrelevant. It may be time to start looking for another career.

My friend found this leaflet at the local recycling centre a while ago. I’ve been trying to think of a way to break the news more gently but the kindest thing is probably just to show you outright.

As you can see, with a small amount of technical knowledge, anybody can be a designer. All that’s needed is a computer and a little flair. I’m sorry. You’re finished.

  1. Wow looks like the handiwork of my ECDL certified granny. Old people and computers are taking our jobs. We should purge them at once, before it’s too late…

  2. The talentless are actually in some ways better suited to the job since they are generally creating for the tasteless. Why should designers keep trying to convince clients and consumers that beauty and order are valuable? Screw it.

  4. James, always with the “turn old people into food” thing. Two soylent greens and a bag of computer chips, please.

Jaime – For money, naturally. Limiting your scope to the upper tier of taste keeps you poor. Aim wide, like Bon Jovi.

Damh – Yeah. They turned out nice.
